Ministry Support to Impact Our World

What We Support

Empowering Women

Justice is doing what God declares to be right and defending those being wronged. We believe God has called WorldChristian Concern to be defenders of the defenseless, and a voice to the voiceless. We will be protectors of those being wronged.

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.
Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.
Proverbs 31:8-9

Millions of women and children around the world are the victims of rape, incest, abuse and trafficking. These women and their children are often powerless and destitute. They are often among the poorest of the poor. They cannot speak for themselves; they need someone to speak for them and defend their rights. At WCC we believe our role is also to support women and children who find themselves in these kinds of situations.

We do this in Meso-America, Africa and the South Pacific by supporting ministries that rescue women from unsafe settings, restore them spiritually, emotionally and physically, and provide them with life skills that enable them to be economically empowered. We also support the training of women who walk alongside victims of abuse and trafficking.

Linda, who partners with WorldChristian Concern, works to equip pastors and community leaders in different countries (including Malawi, Central America and Fiji) to address issues surrounding the rape and abuse of women, and how to help the victims. With the assistance and endorsement of local Malawi leaders she has already been able to train 200 counselors.

In order to affect more communities in Malawi, she was recently asked to write a formal manual that will be translated to Chichewa so that the Counselors who have been through the training sessions can train others who will become counselors in their own communities.

Pray for Linda as more and more opportunities are currently arising for her to bring awareness of this problem, and to work toward prevention.
